The Andaman and Nicobar Island are home to some of richest variety of Flora Fauna, with 86% island covered in tropical rain forests of the 2000+ spices of plants that grow on islands, at least 1300 are exclusive and found in mainland India. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have tropical rain forests canopy, made of mix flora with elements from India, Myanmar, Malaysian and endemic Floral strains. So far, about 2200 variety of plants have been recorded out of which 200 are endemic and 1200 do not occur in mainland India.

CORAL REEFS

The Andaman and Nicobar Island are known for their natural beauty and sandy beaches and rich marine Biodiversity most of the islands are surrounded by fringing reefs on their eastern side and barrier reefs on their western side. The recovered by reefs is about 2000sq kilometres 6% of islands. The harbour a rich population of corals, molluscs, fishes etc, and most of them luxuriant mangrove vegetation closely associated with them.
